WAYNE, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team turned in a 316-320—636, finishing fourth at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College on Monday.
The event, which was originally slated for two days, was condensed into one to get ahead of Tuesday's potential weather. The Wildcat Classic was played at the Wayne Golf Club, a par-72 course playing to roughly 6,083 yards.
"We got to learn to play the conditions and capitalize when we get our scoring opportunities," said head coach
Alex Schmitz. "Lots to improve on before conference next week."
Senior
Anna Cihak led the way with a 79-76—155 to finish tied for sixth while freshman
Claire Schweim was tied for 12
th with an 80-78—158. Senior
Kelly Winter finished tied for 20
th with a 79-82—161 while sophomore
Sammy Youngquist shot an 82-80—162 to finish tied for 24
th. Sophomore
Ava Olson shot an 82-80—168 which was good for a tie for 44
th while freshman
Victoria Woytassek shot a 91-82—173 which was tied for 52
nd.
Augustana won the team title with a 304-303—607. The individual medal was won by AU's Molly Stevens who recorded a 76-73—149.
Minnesota State returns to action April 26 as it travels to Smithsville, Mo., to participate in the three-day long NSIC Championships.
