MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State women's track and field posted a strong outing at the Minnesota State Open Saturday on a breezy day at the Mark Shuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex, finishing first of 14 teams.
Alexi MacDonald cruised to a win in steeplechase with a time of 11:53.76.
Molly Kahl also took first in long jump with a distance of 5.64.
The 100m hurdles were led by
Esaba Okwaramoi, who crossed in an impressive 14.01 seconds. Le'Nehja Norwood secured first place in the 200m with a time of 25.19.
In distance,
Madison Matzek topped the podium in the 5000m with a time of 18:39.80.
Elizabeth Schmidt,
Kaia Martz, Brianna Schroyer and
Ella Erickson came in first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:03.16.
The Mavericks notched a score of 248, ahead of Sioux Falls (160), Southwest Minnesota State (62), Bemidji State (46) and Concordia St. Paul (45). MSU also sent a faction to the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, California), Long Beach Invite (Long Beach, California) and Cerritos College Invite (Norwalk, California) over the weekend.
The team continues outdoor season at the M City Classic on Wednesday, April 17 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, hosted by the University of Minnesota at University of Minnesota Track & Field Stadium.
