How We Got Here: Minnesota State advanced to Monday's final thanks to a 78-58 victory over second-seeded Missouri Western on Friday afternoon and a 78-66 victory over third-seeded Fort Hays State Saturday evening. Junior guard Destinee Bursch paced the Mavericks in both games with a team-high 19 points.
We've Been Here Before, Haven't We: Minnesota is advancing to its fourth regional final in program history. The Mavericks made it to the NCAA Regional final in 1986 (lost to North Dakota State, 67-62), 2008 (lost ot South Dakota, 61-49) and 2009 (defeated Fort Lewis, 72-61).
Haven't We Met Before?:Â Minnesota State fell to Southern Nazarene, 73-56 on November 10th in St. Joseph, Mo., as part of the Regional Crossover Challenge. Sophomore guard Natalie Bremer led the Mavericks with 16 points in the loss. The game featured ten ties and 11 lead changes.
Double Your Pleasure: Minnesota State junior guard Natalie Bremer hauled in a career-high 10 rebounds in the Maverick win over Fort Hays State to go with her 18 points as she recorded her first career double-double. It's the second double-double this year by a Maverick as Destinee Bursch had a 20-point, 10-rebound effort on Jan. 5 against Northern State.
500 Club:Â Minnesota State junior guard Destinee Bursch and sophomore guard Natalie Bremer each joined the single-season 500-point club in MSU's win over Fort Hays State, becoming the 16th and 17th Mavericks to do so.
Taking Charity: Minnesota State's 501 free throws made this season is a new school record, besting the 498 free throws made in 2013-14.
I'll Take That: Senior guard Joey Batt has gathered 100 steals this season, the third-highest total in program history. She is five steals shy of tying Rhonda House (1980-81) for second.
