Sioux Falls, S.D. --- Minnesota State (9-9, 5-3 NSIC) downed Northern State (5-7, 1-3 NSIC) in Monday's series finale by a final of 15-3 at Sioux Falls Stadium.
After a scoreless first and second inning, the Maverick offense found traction in the top of the third scoring four runs on two hits.
Junior
Aidan Byrne worked a leadoff walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. The next batter, senior
Ryan Wickman would single to center field scoring Byrne for his first of four RBIs on the day.
After moving around the diamond courtesy of a sophomore
Louis Magers' HBP and a junior
Zach Stroh single, Wickman and Magers would score on free passes to senior
Ryan Friedges and junior
Nick Baker. Senior
Adam Weed would finish the third-inning madness by collecting his third RBI on the season after plating Stroh on a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Mavericks continued its offensive onslaught in the fifth inning scoring five runs on one hit. Minnesota State loaded the bases on four straight walks to open the inning seeing sophomore
Louis Magers collect his 18th RBI of the year. The next batter, junior
Zach Stroh registered the only hit of the inning collecting two RBIs on a single to right field scoring Wickman and Byrne to give MSU an 8-2 lead.
After adding two more runs in the inning on an NSU error, the Mavericks would enforce their will in the seventh inning scoring five more runs. Baker opened the scoring on his first homer for the MSU's eleventh run on the day. Sophomore
Matthew Fleischhacker recorded an RBI single while senior
Ryan Wickman registered three more RBIs off his second triple of the season.
The Mavericks would finish the inning with 15 runs ending the game early on a 10-run rule by a final score of 15-3.
Freshman
Cale Haugen (1-1) was tabbed with the win after going five innings allowing three runs on five hits while accumulating four strikeouts.

Minnesota State is back in action on March 22nd at 2:30 p.m. for its home opener against St. Cloud State at Bowyer Field.
