2/24/2024 6:54:00 PM

MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 6 Minnesota State men's indoor track & field team made history Saturday by winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships for the 13th consecutive year with a program record 237 points. It happened at Myers Field House as the Mavericks played host Friday and Saturday.

The record stands as the longest winning streak in NSIC men's indoor track & field history.

In addition, the Mavericks have surpassed the second-longest championship streak in NSIC history in any sport, trailing only Minnesota State's remarkable run of 19 consecutive titles in men's outdoor track & field (1948-1966), and passing Minnesota Duluth's dozen straight titles in women's cross country (1992-2003).

The Mavericks more than doubled up second-place finisher Augustana who finished with 100 points.  Northern State was third with 89 points followed by MSU Moorhead with 82.  Minnesota Duluth rounded out the top five with 74.5 points.

"Outstanding weekend for the Mavericks, we are excited about the national championships coming forward", said head coach Mike Turgeon. "All around it was a great team effort.
