MANKATO, Minn.--- Minnesota State will travel to Elkhorn, Nebraska to take on the University of Mary Marauders for a four-game series this weekend. The action is set to begin Friday at 2 p.m. at Frerichs Legion Field.

MSU opened its season in Joplin, Missouri at the Missouri Southern Lion Classic. The Mavericks would go 1-2 following a 2-1 loss against No. 14 Missouri Southern and an 11-9 loss against University of Illinois Springfield. Senior
Ryan Wickman would help the Mavericks salvage the weekend with a 6-5 win against Northwest Missouri State hitting three home runs including a ninth-inning walk-off.
Wickman finished the weekend with a .462 batting average paired with a 1.885 OPS, 1.385 slugging percentage, and a .500 on-base percentage. The Spring Green, Wisconsin native scored a team-high five runs while driving in four. The Mavericks center fielder logged his first double and triple on the season finishing the weekend with a team-best 18 total bases.
Senior
Hunter Ranweiler collected four hits on the weekend registering a .400 batting average. The New Ulm, Minnesota native led the Mavericks in extra-base hits with two doubles and a triple.
The Maverick Staff
The Maverick staff went 1-2 with a 5.76 earned run average in 25 innings of work at the Missouri Southern Lion Classic. Headlining the Mavericks Staff was junior
Spencer Wright going five innings against No. 14 Missouri Southern registering a 1.80 ERA paired with three strikeouts.
Junior
Mitch Gutknecht came on as relief Friday and Saturday churning out 6.1 innings and maintaining a perfect 0.00 ERA. The Stillwater, Minnesota native accumulated a minuscule WHIP of .95 while striking out five on the weekend.
Taking on UMary
The University of Mary finished ninth in last year's NSIC standings with a 23-27 overall record and a 16-19 conference record. UMary capitalizes on opportunities using its speed registering five triples in four games this season which leads the NSIC.
Headlining the Marauders offense is sophomore
Kalem Haney who registered a .632 batting average and a 1.735 OPS at the Missouri Southern Lions Classic. In four starts, the infielder recorded seven RBI while scoring six runs after garnishing 12 hits in 19 ABs.

Ryan Chamberlain dominated Northwest Missouri State finishing with a 1.42 ERA over six innings of work while registering three strikeouts.
