MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State (6-9-1, 2-9-1 WCHA) faced a tough challenge against top-ranked Wisconsin (19-1-0, 13-1-0 WCHA), falling 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.
Suzette Faucher started in goal for the Mavericks, making several key saves throughout the game. Wisconsin struck early, scoring in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead. They extended their advantage in the 17th minute with another goal.
The Badgers continued their strong performance in the second period, scoring their third goal of the game. In the final period, Wisconsin added two more goals to secure the win. Faucher finished the game with an .861 save percentage despite a relentless offensive pressure from Wisconsin.
Minnesota State looks to bounce back next weekend as they host Bemidji State in a two-game series. The games are scheduled for Friday, December 13th, at 3:02 p.m., and Saturday, December 14th, at 2:02 p.m.
