MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team won a total of 14 events Saturday afternoon vs. Gustavus Adolphus and UW-Stevens Point.
In the team scores MSU bested GAC by the score of 230-66 and UWSP by the score of 267-39.
"We had a good day today," head coach
Nathan Owens said. "Overall, the team is feeling the stress of two solid months of training, so performing well and feeling good isn't happening at the same time. We had a number of women do very well for early November and where we are in the training cycle.
"Overall, they look strong in the water, so all the work that they're putting into the weight room is showing up in the pool. Our divers had a great day at our home pool. Both Aspen and Natalie posted qualifying scores which is awesome. Aspen also broke the pool record on 1-meter 11 dives with a score of 450. That's always fun!"
Aspen Warnygora won both the 1-meter (255.25) and 3-meter (262.65) events.
Natalie Freeman turned in a second place finish in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 244.55 also.
MSU won both relay events on the day also. The team of

Claudia Schwartz and
Norah Naatjes turned in a time of 1:49.34 in the 200 medley relay. In the 400 freestyle relay, the quartet of
Kaylee Sivertsen,
Maci Boffeli,
Sydney Pippert and
Teresa Collingwood won the event with a time of 3:38.53.
In the freestyle events,
Aly Donagan came in first in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:17.58. Sivertsen took second in the 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:58.06, while
Averi Larsen won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.24. Pippert won the 100 freestyle also with a time of 53.73.
Larsen also won the 100 backstroke event with a time of 59.96, while Gronholz set the standard in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.69.
Kaylie Gibbs won the 400 IM event with a time of 4:51.01 and the 200 butterfly event with a time of 2:16.74. Schwartz won the 100 butterfly event also with a time of 59.58.
In the breaststroke events, Pippert finished first in the 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:09.61, while
Savannah Acker won the 200 breaststroke event with a time of 2:29.81.
The Mavericks continue their season at home on Saturday, Nov. 16, as they host Southwest Minnesota State. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
