Maverick Men’s Golf Finishes in 10th at The Tulsa Cup

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. --- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished The Tulsa Cup in 10th place Tuesday afternoon.

The Tulsa Cup was held at par 72 Club at Indian Springs. The course consists of four par threes and four par fives. Seventeen teams competed at the event, including Sioux Falls and Augustana from the NSIC.

As a team, MSU finished 10th at the event as it shot 312-307-308—927 (+63). Rogers State finished first in the team standings with a score of 304-306-297—907 (+43). Jack Phillips from Southwestern Oklahoma finished first in the individual standings with a 72-74-70—216 (E).

"The guys got off to a phenomenal start, but we ran in to a tough stretch of holes to finish" head coach Alex Schmitz said. "We need to take the off season to work on being able to play in the wind and be able to hit the shot in front of us."

Junior Marcus Belka led the Mavericks as he finished 17th with a 74-75-78—227 (+11), while sophomore Karson Patten finished in 28th with scores of 78-78-76—232 (+16).

Junior Ryan Darling posted an 84-73-77—234 (+18) to finish in 39th, while junior Hogan Ordal added an 81-81-77—239 (+23) to finish in 57th. Senior Alex Bradley recorded a 79-86-80—245 (+29) also.

Minnesota State will return to action in the spring.
