MANKATO, Minn. – Audrey Garton scored her first collegiate goal for the Mavericks, but No. 4 Minnesota prevailed 3-2 in overtime Saturday afternoon at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center to sweep the weekend home-and-home series. Jessie McPherson made 34 saves in goal for the MSU women's hockey.

Peyton Hemp scored first on the power play at 9:55 of the opening period. Abbey Murphy and Josephin Bouveg assisted for the Golden Gophers.

Madison Mashuga tied it in the second period for Minnesota State with assists from
Whitney Tuttle and
Taylor Otremba. In the waning minutes of the middle frame, Garton tallied her first, from Tuttle and Guillemette.

Jessie McPherson withstood a barrage of shots from Minnesota in the first ten minutes of the third period, but Ava Lindsay posted the tying goal at 11:09 for the Golden Gophers. Skylar Vetter stretched a pass to Lindsay through the neutral zone. Sydney Morrow also assisted.

In 3-on-3 overtime, Hemp scored at 2:01 to end the game and series.

Minnesota (6-3-1, 2-3-1 WCHA) outshot Minnesota State (2-4-0, 0-4-0 WCHA) 37-15. The Mavericks host No. 5 Minnesota Duluth beginning Friday at 6:02 p.m.
