TOPEKA, Kan. --- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished the Washburn Invitational in ninth place.
The Topeka Country club is a par 71 course featuring four par threes and three par fives. In total 15 teams competed in the Washburn Invitational, including Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota Crookston and Winona State from the NSIC.
As a team, the Mavericks finished ninth as they shot a 290-299-299—888 (+36) over the three-round event. Missouri Western topped the team standings as it finished with a 288-279-286—853 (+1). Aiden Asby from Missouri Western led the field individually with a 71-68-68—207 (-6).
"We grinded out three good rounds of golf," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "Unfortunately, we couldn't find a fourth score today. We have a couple of days to figure it out before the last round of the year coming up."
Junior
Hogan Ordal set the pace for the Mavericks as he shot s 74-72-70—216 (+3) to finish the event in a tie for 11th. The final round saw Ordal shoot a 70 (-1) as he notched four birdies.
Junior
Ryan Darling shot 68-75-82—225 (+12) to finish in a tied for 49th. Junior
Marcus Belka also finished +12 as he shot 75-77-73—225.
Senior
Alex Bradley shot 77-76-74—227 (+14) also, while sophomore
Karson Patten finished with a 73-76-82—231 (+18).
Minnesota State wraps up its fall schedule next week as it takes part in The Tulsa Cup. The event is scheduled for Oct. 28-29 and will take place at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, Okla.
