MANKATO, Minn – Minnesota State (2-2-0, 0-2-0WCHA) finished its WCHA opening weekend against St. Thomas (4-0-0, 2-0-0) and fell 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
In the first minute of the game, Chloe Boreen scored for St. Thomas.
Goal number two for the Tommies happened in the 14
th minute of the first period.
Minnesota State had 26 shots on goal while the Tommies had 17 but they couldn't get onto the scoreboard until the 18
th minute of the first period, scored by
Whitney Tuttle.
With one minute left in the second period, Tuttle made her way back around to get another point on the scoreboard, asisted by
Madison Mashuga and Syndey Langseth.
The Mavericks and Tommies were tied until the last minute of the third period when St Thomas' Maddie Brown scored UST's third goal with just 22 seconds remaining in regulation.
Minnesota State is back in action on October 25
th and 26
th when the Mavericks face the University of Minnesota.
