Denisha Cartwright wins the 60 meters at the Mark Schuck Alumni Open

Cartwright Breaks Division II Record at Mark Schuck Open

MANKATO, Minn. – Records continued to fall for No. 1 ranked Minnesota State women's indoor track & field as it hosted the Mark Schuck Open Friday and Saturday at Myers Field House. The Mavericks took first place among 11 teams with 352.50 points. Sioux Falls (80), Wayne State (69), Carleton (68) and Southwest Minnesota State (65.50) rounded out the top five.
 
Top sprinter Denisha Cartwright eclipsed the NCAA Division II 300m dash record with an incredible time of 38.64. The previous record holder was Minnesota State's Rose Cramer with a time of 39.33, set at the 2022 Mark Schuck Open.

Cartwright also won the 60m dash finals in 7.44. A second MSU school record fell in women's pentathlon when Victoriia Ermolaeva amassed 3,842 points.
 
Paige Hickson took first place in pole vault clearing a height of 3.97m (eighth in Division II). Madison Matzek won the 3000 meter event with a time of 10:23.57 while teammate Emily Cunningham crossed second in 10:36.34. MaKenna Thurston also excelled in distance with a mile time at 4:57.03 for first place. Cassidy O'Meara led the field in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:57.15.
 
Thurston and O'Meara teamed with Addison Peed and Kennedy speer to win the women's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:08.80.
 
Mony Johnson won the women's weight throw with a distance of 18.71m (seventh in DivisionII) and Roxan Foster topped the podium in 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.65. Lillian Strong took first place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.08.
 
Triple jump was led by Stella Neophytou, who landed 11.99 meters in the sand.
 
Minnesota State continues indoor track and field season when it hosts the Ted Nelson Classic on February 3 at 11 a.m. at Myers Field House.
