IOWA CITY, Iowa - Minnesota State women's indoor track and field traveled to University of Iowa to participate in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at the Hawkeye Indoor Track Facility and the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on Jan. 19-20. The Mavericks were joined in competition by Bradley, Illinois, Illinois State, Indian Hills, Mount Mercy,
SIU-Edwardsville, UNI, Western Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
"A highlight of the weekend was senior Eilika Lane breaking the 14-year-old school record in the 400m held by Kelsey Leonard.," said head coach Mike Turgeon. "We are really excited about how our women's team is developing as we will be opening up some additional key members of our team over the next few weeks."
SPRINTS/HURDLES
Senior
Denisha Cartwright topped the podium in the 60 meter dash premier finals with a winning time of 7.32, her first 60 meter race of indoor season.
Junior
Adeyah Brewster also qualified for the 60 meter dash finals and placed fifth (7.67). Iowa student-athletes grabbed each of the first seven positions in the 200 meter dash premier but Minnesota State senior
Rose Cramer was ninth with a time of 25:67.
Junior
Robynn Rolle-Curry took eighth in the 400 meter dash premier (57.55).
MaKenna Thurston crossed the 800 meter line sixth (2:13.93) for the Mavericks.
Brewster used a third place prelim to vault into second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.42.
RELAYS
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Eilika Lane, Rolle-Curry, Cramer, and Cartwright placed second behind the Hawkeyes with a time of 3:45.53.
A second MSU group featuring

Brianna Shroyer came across 10
th.
JUMPS/POLE VAULT
Paige Hickson represented the Mavericks in fourth place in pole vault topping out at 3.85m (12' 7.50"). Senior
Makayla Jackson placed fifth in long jump with a mark of 6.14m (20' 1.75") and
Flore Gracia took second place in triple jump (12.66m, 41' 6.50").
THROWS
Sophomore
Mony Johnson headlined MSU throwers with a fifth-place weight throw, 18.74m (61' 5.75")
