loomington, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team – winners of the last ten Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships – has been named the preseason favorite for the upcoming outdoor season.
The Mavericks accumulated ten of the 12 first-place votes and recorded 120 points overall. Augustana was picked second and had two first-place votes and 112 points in the poll. Twelve NSIC schools sponsor men's outdoor track and field.

Tanner Maier was selected as
Track Athlete to Watch while junior long jumper
James Gilbert was named the team's
Field Athlete to Watch.
Minnesota State opens the outdoor portion of its schedule March 24th and 25th at the Wildcat Outdoor Classic in Wayne, Neb.
