Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State will take on the Northern State Wolves in its first clash against an NSIC opponent this season. The Mavericks will host the Wolves at U.S. Bank Stadium for their first appearance at U.S. Bank Stadium in program history. MSU opens the series with a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning and 5:00 p.m., with the third game slated for a 6:00 a.m., start on Friday.

Facing NSU
Minnesota State is 26-6 in an all-time series vs. Northern State. The Wolves won their last game against the Mavericks on April 10, 2022, in Mankato. The season, NSU owns a 5-6 record.

With a 15-26 overall record and 10-18 conference mark last season, Northern State finished 11th in the NSIC standings. 

They own a team batting average of .259 and .422 slugging percentage. When pitching, NSU sports a team earned run average of 6.08 and an opponent batting average of .266.

Minnesota State participated in the RussMatt Invitational last week going 6-2 over the eight-game stretch. MSU outscored its opponents 56-30 while allowing two or fewer runs in four of the eight games played. 

MSU saw six different pitchers notch wins over the Russ Matt Invitational with four of the six notching their first wins of the season. 

Junior Jackson Hauge lead the Mavericks offense this past week accumulating 12 RBIs off eight at-bats while also grabbing his first homer of the season against California University of Pa. on March 7th. The Ramsey native finished the Florida trip with a .346 batting average raising his overall average to .311 on the season. 

Hauge tied Junior Ryan Wickman in runs scored throughout the RussMatt Invitational with nine pulling Hauge into second on the team behind Wickman. 

The Mavericks head into the first conference series with a 10-4 record which is good enough for third in the NSIC standings behind Southwest Minnesota State and Minot State.
