Mavericks Win 200 Medley Relay Event on Day One of NSIC Championships

FARGO, N.D. —- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team ranks second after day one of the NSIC Championships.

The Mavericks have tallied 212 points. Augustana sits atop the standings with 272 points, while St. Cloud State trails in third with 201 points.

The quartet of sophomore Abby Gronholz, freshman Megan Schultz, senior Nicole Beckman and junior Elise Mishmash won the 200 medley relay event with a time of 1:43.47.

The team of sophomore Maija Carriveau, junior Ella DeFever, junior Olivia Hudoba and Mishmash also claimed All-NSIC honors as they finished second in the 200 freestyle relay event with a time of 1:34.56.

In the 50 freestyle, Carriveau finished fourth with a time of 24.01. DeFever and Mishmash finished sixth and seventh with times of 24.21 and 24.22, respectively.

Sophomore Sienna Sirek Kreye took 11th place in the 1,000 freestyle event with a time of 10:42.04. Beckman also finished 11th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.91.

The NSIC Championships continue on Thursday with the prelims set for 10:00 a.m., and the finals at 5:30 p.m.
