Minnesota State Travels South to take on Lindenwood

Minnesota State travels to St. Charles, Mo., to take the Lindenwood Lions for the first meeting between the two ball clubs in program history.
Lindenwood (1-3), a Division I program, found a new home in the Ohio Valley Conference after going 27-24 and finishing third in the Great Lake Valley Conference last season.
The Mavericks open the weekend Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. MSU will wrap up the weekend in St. Charles on Sunday with the first pitch also at 12:00 p.m.
Last Time on the Diamond
Junior Nathan Culley led the Mavericks to its first win on the season Friday against Missouri Western 4-1 putting in six innings of work, accumulating seven strikeouts while allowing only one run on four hits.
The Mavericks dropped Saturday's contest 12-2 against Northwest Missouri. Sophomores Brock Johnson and Aidan Byrne found early success driving home the game's first two runs in the top of the first.
MSU regrouped Sunday knocking off #21 Missouri Southern in a high-scoring showdown. Senior pitcher Dylan Gotto notched the win for the Mavericks putting in six innings of work accumulating six strikeouts while allowing three runs on seven hits.
Junior Mikey Gottschalk led the Mavericks' offense Sunday going 2-5 with three RBIs on the day.
 
Taking on LU:
The Lions' offense is led by junior Brett Bowers. Bowers owns a .357 batting average and is on a four-game hitting streak for the Lindenwood.
Heading the LU pitching staff, sophomore Eli Brown has put in 5.2 innings of work accumulating four strikeouts while keeping a clean ERA on only one hit given up this season.
