Minnesota State opens its season in Joplin, Missouri to participate in the Missouri Southern Invitational.

The Mavericks open the weekend Friday at 1 p.m. against Missouri Western then Northwestern Missouri on Saturday at 4 p.m. MSU will finish the weekend as the away team facing the host of the Missouri Southern tournament at 10 a.m.

A Walk Down Memory Lane
MSU wrapped up last season 39-9 overall with a 28-5 in NSIC action. The Mavericks were the NSIC tournament champions before going 0-2 in the 2022 NCAA DII Central Regional in Warrensburg, Mo.

Mavericks in the NCBWA Poll
The Mavericks were ranked #23 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II Top 25 Preseason Poll (January 25). MSU will head into its opening week unranked in the latest NCBWA Poll (February 15).

The Maverick Staff
The MSU pitching staff was among the best in NCAA DII again last season. The Mavericks ranked fourth in the country and second in the NSIC with a 3.10 earned run average in 46 games. Additionally, MSU arms ranked third in NCAA DII and second in the NSIC in terms of WHIP (1.17) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.55).
