BROOKINGS, S.D. – Minnesota State women's indoor track and field student-athletes competed at the South Dakota State University Holiday Open & Multi Friday and Saturday at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The Mavericks competed against 17 collegiate teams representing all three NCAA Divisions.
 
Freshman Victoriia Ermolaeva set a Minnesota State school record in pentathlon with 3,732 points. The previous record holder, Kaycie Merrihew assembled 3,685 points in 2009.
 
In the effort, Ermolaeva ran to first place finishes in long jump and high jump, third in 60 meter hurdles, fifth in 800 meters dash, and seventh in shot put. She finished second in the field of 22 participants behind Emily Swanson of Sioux Falls (3,748) and set an NCAA provisional mark.
 
Miranda Lauvstad was also fourth overall with 3,489 points and an NCAA provisional. Lauvstad placed second in both 800 meter and long jump events, fourth in shot put, fifth in 60 meter hurdles and ninth in high jump.
 
Esther Miller placed eighth (2,999) and Alexa Post came in ninth (2,970).
