MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State football team has advanced to the NCAA Tournament and will take on Augustana in the first round at Kirkeby-Over Stadium in Sioux Falls, S.D. Kickoff is to be determined.

"What an exciting opportunity for us to be a part of the 2023 NCAA Division II football bracket in super region four," head coach Todd Hoffner said. "In particular I'm really excited for our 10 seniors who get another chance to compete on the gridiron in the NCAA Playoffs."

This marks the 14th time in program history that Minnesota State has advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Minnesota State owns a 15-13 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Mavericks defeated Wayne State 26-9 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Colorado School of Mines 48-45 in the second round.

This will be the first time Minnesota State and Augustana will face each other in the NCAA Tournament. The Vikings defeated the Mavericks 28-10 earlier this season in Sioux Falls.

Minnesota State owns a 9-2 record this season as it put together a 4-1 record on the road. Augustana finished its regular season with a 10-1 record as it won the NSIC Championship with a 9-1 conference record.
