Fairfield, Conn. --- Minnesota State notched its first sweep of the season as they took down Sacred Heart by a final of 7-1 Saturday evening in Fairfield, Connecticut in non-conference women's hockey.
The Mavericks picked up where they left off last night, scoring four goals in the opening period. Sophomore
Whitney Tuttle notched her second on the week to put the Mavericks on the board at the 6:38 mark of the first period.

Jamie Nelson continued her hot start, notching her third goal on the weekend. This was the second straight day the Mavericks top line all recorded a point on a goal as senior

Taylor Otremba collected the assists on the play.
At the 15:24 mark of the first period, freshman
Kamryn Van Batavia notched her first collegiate goal giving the Mavericks 12-straight tallies without allowing a goal. On the play freshman
Ava Guillemette also notched her first collegiate point as she collected the assist.
The Mavericks' scoreless run came to an end at the 18:46 mark of the first as SHU scored its first goal of the weekend.

Jamie Nelson reclaimed the Mavericks' three-goal margin notching her second on the game and fourth of the weekend.
The Mavericks used the intermission to refuel as they scored two goals in under six minutes to start the period. Freshman
Jenessa Gazdik found the net from the blueline for her first collegiate goal. Just 35 seconds later, senior
Charlotte Akervik notched her first score of the season on the power play, giving the Mavericks a 6-1 lead.
Sophomore
Taylor Otremba finished off SHU at the 16:19 mark of the third period for her third on the weekend. Otremba finished the weekend with five points trailing Seniors
Sydney Langseth (6) and Nelson (7) for the team lead.
In goal, junior
Suzette Faucher recorded her first win in the purple and gold improving to 1-0 on the season.
Minnesota State looks to continue its hot start as it travels to No. 1 Wisconsin on Thursday for 7 p.m. puck drop.
