Coral Springs, Fla. --- The current edition of the 2022-23 NCAA Division II Indoor Qualifying List has members of the Minnesota State women's indoor track & field team appearing in nine different events, leading five.
Mavericks are in the top two spots in the 60-meter dash, with defending National Champion
Makayla Jackson leading the nation with a time of 7.29, and reigning All-American
Denisha Cartwright ranking second with a time of 7.31. Junior
Ja'Cey Simmons also appears in the 60-meter dash leaderboard with her time of 7.66 currently tying for 32
nd.
Cartwright finds herself atop the 200-meter dash rankings with a time of 23.75, with Jackson standing ninth (24.65). Junior
Rose Cramer is the third Maverick in the 200-meters as her time of 24.88 tying for 18
th.
Four different Mavericks appear on the 60-meter hurdle leaderboard, with Cartwright once again leading the nation with a time of 8.18. Junior
Roxan Foster (8.64) is tied for fifth nationally, while sophomore
Kynnedi Malone (8.76) is 18
th and senior
Quanterra Harrison (8.85) stands 26
th.
Like Cartwright, Jackson also leads the nation in a second event thanks to her mark of 6.35 m (20' 10") in the long jump. Also appearing in the long jump rankings are junior
Mariah Williams in sixth (5.98 m; 19' 7.5"), junior
Kary Petricka in 14
th (5.84 m; 19' 2"), and freshman
Miranda Lauvstad tied for 27
th (5.67 m; 18' 7.25").
The triple jump is another event that is littered with Mavericks amongst the leaderboard, with junior
Flore Gracia standing second thanks to her mark of 12.75 m (41' 10"). Joining Gracia are freshman
Lillian Washington in fourth (12.49 m; 40' 11.75") and sophomore
Stella Neophytou in eighth (12.11 m; 39' 8.75").
Senior
Lexie Hurst is another Maverick who currently leads the nation in her event thanks to her mark of 16.91 m (55' 5.75") in the shot put. Junior
Abbi Stafslien-Dumale accompanies Hurst in the shot put rankings with her effort of 13.84 m (45' 5") standing in a tie for 15
th.
Sophomore pole vaulter
Paige Hickson is tied for fourth in the event with a mark of 4.03 m (13' 2.5")., Fellow sophomore
Emily Cunningham makes an appearance in the 3000-meters with her time of 9:54.67, which is good for 13
th. Also ranking 13
th in her event is freshman
Miranda Lauvstad with her score of 3565 in the pentathlon.
The Mavericks travel to Iowa City, Iowa, for their next competition when they take part in the two-day Larry Wieczorek Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20th and 21st.
