Laffen Ties for Sixth as Top Minnesota State Individual

Winona, Minn. --- The Minnesota State's men's golf team turned in a fourth-place finish at the Super Region Preview, which was played in Winona the last two days.

The Mavericks combined to shoot rounds of 293 and 302 en route to a 36-hole total of 595. Winona State finished in first place with a 578 score, while Washburn (590) and Wayne State (Mich.) (591) placed second and third, respectively

There were 14 teams competing at the tournament, which was held at The Bridges in Winona.

Minnesota State was led by senior Ben Laffen, who registered a two-round total of 145 (74-71) in tying for sixth.

Other Mavericks, their placing and scores included Jack Klimek (t19th, 72-78--150), Marcus Belka (t32nd, 71-80--151), Alex Bradley (T32nd, 76-75--151) and Joe Adams (T71st, 82-78-160).

Next action for Minnesota State is the Bemidji State Invitational slated for Sept. 12-13.
