Vermillion, S.D. --- Minnesota State women track athletes traveled to Vermillion, S.D., to compete in the USD Early Bird meet today hosted by the University of South Dakota.
In the 4x100m relay the Mavericks squad that consisted of
Denisha Cartwright,
Ja'Cey Simmons,
Rose Cramer, and
Makayla Jackson took home the top sport in the meet with a NCAA provisional mark of 45.78.
Simmons went on to finish fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.29.
Kary Petricka and
Caitlyn Jones finished in the top-10 with times of 12.46 and 12.47, respectively.
Senior
Mackenzie Woodard finished ninth in the 400m dash with a time of 58.63.
Emma Borowicz finished eighth in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:05.14.
The Mavericks saw two athletes finish in the top-five in the 200m dash. Jackson finished first with a time of 24.52 and Cramer finished third with a mark of 24.69.
Zoe Stone finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 5' 5'' (1.65m).
Makayla Jackson took home the top spot in the long jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 19' 6.25'' (5.95m) which is sixth in the country.
Flore Gracia finished first in the triple jump with a jump of 40' 5.5'' (12.33m) which is NCAA provisional mark that ranks fifth in the country.
Stella Neophytou finished second in the event with a jump of 38' 5'' (11.71m).
Kearney, Neb. --- Minnesota State women field athletes traveled to Kearney, Neb., to take part in the Central Nebraska Challenge hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
In the discus throw,
Katie Taylor finished second in the event with a NCAA provisional mark of 144' 8'' (44.09m).
Madeline Fretag, who is currently 10th in the country, finished third in the event with a throw of 144' (43.89m) which is a NCAA provisional mark.
In the shot put,
Brea Perron, who is currently second in the NCAA from last weekend's performance, finished first in the event with a NCAA provisional mark of 46' 10.75'' (14.29m). The Mavericks also saw freshman
Kaitlyn Schroeder finish third with a toss of 44' 4'' (13.51m).
Perron followed up her victory in the shot put with a victory in the hammer throw with a NCAA provisional mark of 187' 2'' (57.05m) which is currently good for fifth in the country. Senior
Kaylee Jensen finished in the runner-up position with a throw of 181' (55.16m) which is a NCAA provisional mark and currently is eighth in the nation.
The Mavericks return to action April 8-9 as they host the Minnesota State Open & Multi inside Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
