Makayla Jackson and the 4x100m relay team that consists of
Denisha Cartwright,
Ja'Cey Simmons,
Rose Cramer and Jackson swept the NSIC Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards.
Jackson, a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wis., finished third in the long jump at the 62nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays this past weekend. Jackson recorded a school record jump of 21' 7'' (6.59m) and ranks first in the country with that performance. Additionally, Jackson finished first in the Gold section of the Beach Invite at Long Beach State University with a mark of 21'' 3.5'' (6.49m). The mark of 6.59 is also the fourth farthest jump in division II history.
This is the sixth time in her career that she has earned this award.
The Minnesota State 4x100m relay team finished second at the 62nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays with a time 44.65 racing mainly against division I teams. This mark is the fastest in division II and 10th fastest in division II history.
Minnesota State returns to action on Saturday as they take part in the Holst Invite hosted by Concordia-St. Paul.
