BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- Twelve Minnesota State football student-athletes have combined to receive a total of 13 All-NSIC honors for their efforts this season.

Sophomore Marshall Foerner and seniors Jack Roussel and Nyles Williams received All-NSIC First Team Offense honors, while senior Payton Conrad and junior Trent Carpenter claimed All-NSIC First Team Defense honors. Junior Trey Vaval garnered All-NSIC First Team Special Teams honors also to go along with All-NSIC Second Team Defense honors.

Sophomore Hayden Ekern and junior Shen Butler-Lawson each received All-NSIC Second Team Offense accolades, while sophomore Jacob Daulton, sophomore Maven Kretche, senior Blake Van Veldhuizen and senior Alijah McGhee joined Vaval in garnering All-NSIC Second Team Defense honors.

Minnesota State continues its season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as it hosts the Wayne State Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., at Blakeslee Stadium.

#2 Trey Vaval: Has played and started in all 11 games for the Mavericks. On defense, Vaval has tallied 37 tackles, including a season-best eight against the University of Mary, and has defended five passes. Vaval leads the NSIC in kick returns with an average of 26.2 yards per return. He also ranks second in the NSIC in punt return average with 17.4 yards per return. Against Minnesota Duluth, Vaval recorded 132 punt return yards, including an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown.

#5 Paton Conrad: Has started in all 11 games for the Mavericks this season. He leads the team in tackles with 57 and has forced three fumbles. Against Wayne State, Conrad tallied a season-high nine tackles, to go along with a fumble recovery. He has recorded at least five tackles in six games this season.

#7 Alijah McGhee: Has played and started in all 11 games for the Mavericks. He is second on the team in tackles this season with 52 and has posted 6.0 tackles for a loss. Against Bemidji State, he returned an interception and a fumble for a touchdown to claim All-NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Against Southwest Minnesota State, McGhee posted a season-high nine tackles.

#15 Hayden Ekern: Has played in eight games for the Mavericks this season, including seven starts. Ekern has thrown for 1,387 yards and 13 touchdowns this season as he has completed 89-of-154 passes. He has thrown for more than 200 yards in three games this season, including a season-high 266 yards and three touchdowns against Wayne State. Against SMUS, Ekern threw four touchdown passes.

#22 Shen Butler-Lawson: Has played in all 11 games for the Mavericks this season, including six starts. He leads the Maverick rushing attack with 810 yards and 10 touchdown carries this season. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in five games this season, including a season-high 157 yards against Winona State. Butler-Lawson has recorded at least two touchdown carries in four games, including a season-high three against Augustana.

#24 Nyles Williams: Has played in all 11 games this season, including 10 starts at wide receiver for the Mavericks. He leads the Maverick receiving corps with 35 catches for 642 yards and eight touchdowns. Against Southwest Minnesota State, he caught four passes for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns. Williams has caught two touchdown passes in three games this season.

#41 Jacob Daulton: Has played and started in all 11 games this season. Daulton has notched 47 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss and 3.0 sacks. He has also recorded two interceptions. Against Northern State, Daulton notched a season-high 10 tackles and has recorded at least five tackles in four games this season.

#45 Trent Carpenter: Has played and started in nine games this season and has tallied 44 tackles, including 4.0 for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He has also broken up six passes. Against Sioux Falls, Carpenter posted a season-high 10 tackles. In total, he has tallied at least six tackles in four games this season.

#64 Jack Roussel: Has played and started in all 11 games this season on the offensive line for the Mavericks. He has helped his team rush for 1,811 yards and 21 touchdowns. The Maverick offensive line has allowed just 12 sacks this season as Maverick quarterbacks have thrown for 2,332 yards and 21 touchdowns.

#79 Marshall Foerner: Has played and started in 10 games this season for the Mavericks on the offensive line. He has helped his team rush for 1,811 yards and 21 touchdowns. The Maverick offensive line has allowed just 12 sacks this season as Maverick quarterbacks have thrown for 2,332 yards and 21 touchdowns.

#90 Maven Kretche: Has played and started in all 11 games for the Mavericks on the defensive line. Kretche has recorded 28 tackles, to go with 6.0 for a loss and 3.0 sacks, to go along with a fumble recovery. Against the University of Mary, Kretche posted a season-high five tackles.

#93 Blake Van Veldhuizen: Has played and started in all 11 games. He has notched 29 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss and 3.0 sacks. Van Veldhuizen has recovered two fumbles on the season. Against Southwest Minnesota State, he recorded a season-high five tackles.
