CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Minnesota State women's volleyball team won in five sets against Minnesota Crookston (25-16, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21,15-4) Friday evening on the road.
Minnesota State made an impressive comeback after being down 2-1 in sets to top Minnesota Crookston (25-16, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-4).
Minnesota State was led offensively by sophomore Toryn Richards with 15 kills. Junior Sophie Tietz posted 10 blocks, 13 digs and five aces. Freshman Ellie Kline contributed with 23 digs. Sophomore Brooke Bolwerk passed out 44 assists also.
Minnesota Crookston, which dropped to 3-15 overall and 2-8 NSIC, was led by Mara Weisensel with 13 kills. Natalie Koke passed 41 assists, while Layne Whaley posted 13 digs.
Minnesota State, now 5-13 overall and 4-6 NSIC for the season continues NSIC action tomorrow at Bemidji State. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
