Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State women's volleyball team fell in three sets to third-rated Concordia-St. Paul Thursday in Taylor Center.
Coming off back-to-back home league sweeps over Minot State and UMary last weekend, the Mavericks fell to the visiting Golden Bears 25-22, 25-21 and 25-10.
Minnesota State was led offensively by junior Sophie Tietz and sophomore Abigail Wolfe, who both finished with six kills each. Tietz posted 11 digs and had five aces. Freshman libero Ellie Kline contributed with 10 digs and sophomore setter Brooke Bolwerk passed out 20 assists.
Concordia-St. Paul, which improved to 15-2 overall and 8-1 NSIC, was led by Jasmine Mulvihill with 13 kills. Teagan Starkey passed 37 assists, while Payton Stier posted 13 digs.
"We played great volleyball for two full sets," said Corey Phelps, Minnesota State's head coach. "We will continue to make adjustments for next time that we play them."
Minnesota State, now 4-13 overall and 3-6 NSIC for the season and winners of three of its last five matches, continues NSIC action Friday on the road against Minnesota Crookston and Saturday against Bemidji State.
