Marshall, Minn. – The Minnesota State women's volleyball fell in three sets to fifth-ranked Southwest Minnesota State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road action in Marshall, Minn.
The #5 host Mustangs, who improve to 21-5 overall and 13-5 NSIC with tonight's win, prevailed 25-22, 25-20, 27-25 over the visiting Mavericks.
With the loss, Minnesota State drops to 6-20 overall and 5-13 in NSIC matches.
Minnesota State was led offensively by sophomore Emma Loveall, who finished with 13 kills. Freshman Emily Kern and sophomore Kiya Durant both had two blocks each. Senior Brenna Hesse and sophomore Toryn Richards posted nine digs for the Mavericks. Sophomore Brooke Bolwerk passed out 36 assists and now has 662 assists for the season.
The Southwest Minnesota State offense was led by Meg Schmidt with 15 kills. Alisa Bengen had 38 assists for the Mustangs while Natalee Rolbiecki posted ten digs.
Minnesota State continues NSIC action on Nov. 4 at 6:00 p.m., as it hosts Wayne State.
