Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State women's volleyball fell in four sets to #2 Wayne State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action at home 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20).
With this loss, Minnesota State is now 6-21 overall and 5-14 in NSIC play while #2 Wayne State improves to 28-1 overall and 18-1 in NSIC action.
Minnesota State was led offensively by sophomore Sophie Tietz with 14 kills followed closely by sophomore Toryn Richards and redshirt freshman Elizabeth Dille with 13 kills each. Sophomore Kiya Durant led the team with four blocks while Tietz added three. Sophomore Brooke Bolwerk had 46 assists for the Mavericks. Senior Brenna Hesse recorded a carreer-high of 31 digs.
Wayne State's offense was led by Taya Beller with 18 kills. Rachel Walked had 46 assists for the Wildcats while Jessie Brandl posted 31 digs.
Minnesota State concludes its season on Saturday as it hosts the Augustana Vikings at 2:00 p.m.
