Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team took part in day two of the Mark Schuck Open and Multi Saturday in Myers Field House. The Mavericks claimed their fourth consecutive meet victory with a total score of 252 points.
In the 60m dash, sophomore
Caitlyn Jones took home the top spot with a time of 7.68 seconds which is a NCAA Provisional mark. Then, in the 200m dash Mavericks took the top two spots in the event with
Ja'Cey Simmons and
Denisha Cartwright placing first and second with times of 24.66 and 25.10 seconds, respectively. Simmons ranks first in the nation with her performance.
Once again, the Mavericks earned the top two spots but, this time in the 300m dash. Sophomore
Rose Cramer took first with a time of 39.33 seconds.
Sherona Stewart took second with a time of 40.14 seconds. In the 400m dash Stewart took the top spot with a NCAA Provisional mark of 57.51 seconds. In the 800m dash, freshman
Makayla Bishop finished second with a time of 2:24.45.
Then, in the 60m hurdles,
Denisha Cartwright would claim her second podium finish with a victory in this event. She placed first with a time of 8.63 seconds.
In the 4 x 200m relay the Mavericks took the top spot with a time of 1:41.07. The team consisted of
Rose Gaye,
Ja'Cey Simmons,
Denisha Cartwright and
Carson Fields.
Then, in the 4 x 400m relay the Mavericks finished first with a time of 3:52.75. The team was comprised of
Rose Gaye,
Sherona Stewart,
Mackenzie Woodard and
Rose Cramer.
The Pole Vault saw freshman
Paige Hickson earn the victory with a vault of 3.70m (12'1.5'') which is a NCAA Provisional mark.
In the Long Jump,
Kary Petricka finished first with a NCAA Provisional mark of 5.81m (19' 0.75''). Next, in the Triple Jump freshman
Stella Neophytou took the second spot with a mark of 11.94m (39' 2.25''). This performance was a NCAA Provisional mark.
Last weeks NSIC Field Athlete of the Week,
Katie Taylor, took home a third-place finish in the shot put and a second-place finish in the weight throw with distances of 14.06m (46' 1.5'') and 19.03m (62' 5.25''), respectively.
The Mavericks return to action Saturday, Feb. 5 as they host the Ted Nelson Classic in Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
