Mavericks Name Captains for 2021-22

Aamodt named Team Captain; Lutz & McNeely to Serve as Alternates

  Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State head coach Mike Hastings has announced that senior defenseman Wyatt Aamodt has been named captain for the 2021-22 men's hockey team.

Named alternate captains are senior forward Reggie Lutz and senior defenseman Jack McNeely.

Aamodt, a three-year letterwinner from Hermantown, Minn., has four goals and 13 assists for 17 points and is +20 with 72 shots on goal in 82 career games. He is a two-time conference all-academic selection.

Lutz, a four-year letterwinner from Elk River, Minn., has 37 goals and 51 assists for 83 points in 138 career games with the Mavericks. He is a three-time conference all-ademic selection.

McNeely, a four-year letterman who also served as an alternate captain last year, has 6-29--35 and is +55 in 102 career games at Minnesota State. The Lakeville, Minn., native is a three-time conference all-academic selection.
 
Minnesota State, which went 22-5-1 overall in 2020-21 and in addition to claiming the WCHA regular-season championship, won the NCAA West Region championship in advancing to the Frozen Four for the first time, is scheduled to open the 2021-22 campaign on the road at defending national champion UMass, Oct. 2-3 in Amherst, Mass.
