Mavericks Finish First in MSU Triangular

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field program finished first in the MSU Triangular Friday night with 103 points while Concordia-St. Paul finished second with 36 and Sioux Falls finished third with 30 points.

In the 60m dash, Nicholas Sharma finished first with a time of 7.00 and he would then go on to finish first in the 200m dash with a time of 22.38. Kornelius Klah finished first in the 400m dash with a time of 50.08.

Drew Lewison finished first in the 600m run with a time of 1:25.24 while Tanner Maier finished first in the 800m run with a time of 1:53.21 which converts down to 1:51.62 for track size and ranks 11th in DII this season.

In the 1000m run Will Valentin finished first with a time of 2:38.44 and Maier finished first in the 3000m run with a time of 8:55.89

Klah continued his strong day as he finished first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.97 which is a provisional qualifier and currently ranks as the fourth best mark in the nation.

In the pole vault, Alex Berg finished first with a top clear of 4.64m (15'2.75") while Caleb Kath finished second in the long jump with a top mark of 7.30m (23'11.5") which is a provisional qualifier and ranks as the ninth best leap in the nation.

Stephen Ayobamidele finished first in the triple jump with a top jump of 14.15m (46'5.25").

In the shot put, Bedale Naba finished first with a top throw of 16.75m (54'11.50") which is a provisional qualifier that ranks 17th in the nation. Carter Aguilera finished first in the weight throw with a top toss of 18.39m (60.4") which is a provisional qualifier but does not improve on his top throw this season.

Minnesota State returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 20th as they host the President Davenport Classic and welcome Minnesota Duluth and Winona State to Myers Field House. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
