Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State University Maverick women's track and field program picked up its second dual win of the season in the Mark Schuck Dual by a score of 94-57 over the Winona State Warriors.
Makayla Jackson finished first in the 60m dash with a time of 7.71 just short of her current seasons best of 7.70. In the 200m dash
Ja'Cey Simmons finished first with a time of 24.79 which converted for track size adjusts to 24.41 and currently ranks second in the nation. Teammate
Denisha Cartwright finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 25.02 which adjusts to 24.64 which is fourth best this season in DII.
In the 400m dash
Mackenzie Woodard finished first with a time of 57.51 which converted for track size clocks in at 56.76 which is currently 4
th best in the nation.
Skylar Bragg finished first in the 800m run with a time of 2:23.71.
In the 3000m run
Amanda Montplaisir finished first with a time of 10:13.46.
In the 60m hurdles
Denisha Cartwright finished first with a time of 8.74 which is a provisional qualifying time and currently ranks second in DII behind only fellow Maverick
MacKenzie Keune.
In the long jump,
Jackson (5.71m 18'9")) finished first and teammate
Trinity Moore (5.69m, 18'8")) finished second. Both marks are provisional qualifying and currently rank as the 8
th and 9
th best in the nation.
Samiya Abu-Youm took first place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.14 (36'6.75").
In the shot put,
Katie Taylor finished first with a top throw of 14.04m (46'0.75") which currently ranks as the 14
th best in nation.
Taylor continued her strong meet with a first-place finish in the weight throw with a top mark of 18.62m (61'1.25") which currently ranks as the fifth best in DII this season.
In the pole vault
Jessie Westman and
Micah Zaemisch finished first with top clears of 2.90 (9'6.25")
The Mavericks return to action next Saturday as they host the University of Northern Iowa in the Ted Nelson Dual. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Myers Field House.
