3/23/2020 3:48:00 PM

Mankato, Minn. --- A pair of Minnesota State standouts have been named First Team All-Americans by U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO).

The two Mavericks recognized by USCHO are sophomore Dryden McKay, who led the nation in virtually every goaltending statistical category, and senior forward Marc Michaelis, who finished his final season of college hockey tied for second in the country in points per game (1.42).

Both players are finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top men's college hockey player.

McKay, this year's WCHA Goaltender of the Year, finished 2019-20 with a 30-4-2 record with his 30 wins leading the nation.  He also ranked first in the country with a 1.31 goals against average, .942 save percentage (led nation) and ten shutouts (led nation) this season. His ten shutouts this year ties for second all-time in NCAA history. His 30th win in a WCHA first-round playoff series-clinching victory over Alaska Anchorage established a Minnesota State goaltending record for wins in a season. McKay was also named All-WCHA First Team, was an eight-time WCHA Goaltender of the Week selection and was a three-time WCHA Goaltender of the Month pick. He was named National Goaltender of the Month for November by the Hockey Commissioners Association.

This year's Western Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Year, Michaelis led Minnesota State in scoring on the season with 20-24--44 and his point total tied for third in the country. Michaelis, who established a school record for career shorthanded goals with ten, led the WCHA in goals per game (0.65), points per game (1.42), power play points (21), shorthanded goals (three) and game-winning goals (five) this year. His shorthanded-goal total on the season also tied for the national lead. The two-year team captain is a four-time All-WCHA First Team selection and this year's WCHA Forward of the Year.  Michaelis was the WCHA Rookie of the Year in 2016-17. The Mannheim, Germany, native signed a free agent contract with the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks last week.

Minnesota State, which finished the year having captured its third-consecutive MacNaughton Cup as WCHA regular-season champions, finished 2019-20 with a 31-5-2 record.
