Shane Zylstra have all received Don Hansen All-American honors for their efforts this past season.
Gunn, Heim and Zylstra claimed Don Hansen All-American First Team Offense honors, while Robertson received named Don Hansen All-American First Team accolades. Senior
Tyler Schmidt received an Honorable Mention also.
A running back from Minooka, Ill., Gunn led the Maverick rushing attack this past season with 1,667 yards and 31 touchdowns. He averaged 111.1 rushing yards a game this season and tallied more than 100 rushing yards in eight games. Against Sioux Falls, Gunn notched a season-high 254 rushing yards and six touchdown carries. Gunn finished his career at Minnesota State as its all-time leader in carries (861), rushing yards (4,922) and rushing touchdowns (65).
An offensive lineman from DePere, Wis., Heim started in all 15 games for the Mavericks on the offensive line and helped MSU set single-season records in points scored (712), rushing yards (4,246) and rushing touchdowns (59). The Maverick offensive line allowed just 19 sacks last season. Heim started in all 54 games for the Mavericks during the last four seasons.
A linebacker from Rochester, Minn., Robertson led the Maverick defense this past season with 75 tackles. He also finished second on the team in tackles for a loss with 13.5 and third on the team in sacks with 5.5. Against Texas A&M-Commerce, he tallied a season-high 10 tackles. In three seasons with the Mavericks, Robertson recorded 171 tackles, 23.0 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks.
A wide receiver from Spicer, Minn., Zylstra led the Maverick receiving corps with 81 catches for 1,676 yards and 18 touchdowns, all of which set MSU single-season records. He tallied a season-high 220 yards and three touchdowns against Minnesota Duluth and tallied more than 100 receiving yards in nine games during the 2019 season. Zylstra finished his career as Minnesota State's all-time leader in catches (227), receiving yards (4,297) and touchdown catches (54).
A tight end from Cedar Falls, Iowa, Schmidt played in all 15 games for the Mavericks this past season, including 14 starts. He caught six passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Schmidt has played in 49 of MSU's 54 games during the last four seasons and has caught 31 passes for 338 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Minnesota State finished its 2019 season with a 14-1 record as it advanced to the NCAA Championship Game.
