Fairbanks, Alaska --- #4 Minnesota State saw its seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end, falling to Alaska 1-0 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Saturday night at Carlson Center in Fairbanks.
Neither team was able to score in the first period and it was the host Nanooks that got the game's first goal when
Troy Van Tetering found a loose puck after it bounced off the post to
Dryden McKay's left and pushed it into the net at the 16:05 mark of the second period.
The goal stood up as the Mavericks outshoot the Nanooks by an 11-3 margin in the third period, but were unable to solve netminder
Anton Martinsson.
The loss marked only the second time this year that Minnesota State has been shutout.
