Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State claimed their eighth consecutive NSIC Indoor Championship with a total of 212 points. The second-place finisher in the Championship was U-Mary who finished with 115 points. The competition was held at Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
Saturday saw the final three events of the heptathlon.
Jack Curtis (5201) and
Ryan Kruse (5053) finished NSIC champion and third place respectively. The heptathlon mark puts Curtis 7th in Division II currently.
Austin Pasch (4:23.34) was the runner-up in the mile in a thrilling finish.
The 60m hurdles final saw
Sydne Davis (8.00) finish as the NSIC runner-up in the event.
The shot put saw
Jayme LaPlante capture the NSIC title with a toss of 16.53m (54-02.75).
The Mavericks proved dominant in the 400m final as
John Schuster (47.86) takes the NSIC title
Reid Diamond (48.48),
Josh Phelps (48.84) taking second and third place. Schuster's mark was good enough for the new NSIC Indoor Championship record.
The 600m final saw
Marquan Wiesen finish third with a time of (1:21.91).
In the 60m dash final
Cornelius Bright (6.88) finished as the NSIC runner-up.
The 1000m run saw
Jacob Wahlers (2:26.61) win the NSIC title. Wahlers's mark was good enough for the new NSIC Indoor Championship record.
The 200m saw
Paul Selman (21.87) and Diamond (21.89) take the second and third spots.
Elijah Calderon-Pitchford was the NSIC champion in the triple jump with a leap of 14.92m (48-11.50).
In the final race of the day the 4x400 team comprised of Selman,
Leroy Kwateh, Diamond and Schuster finished first with a time of (3:19.34).
Up next, those who have qualified for nationals will travel to Pittsburgh, Kan. for the NCAA National Championships March 8th and 9th.
