MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team will finish its regular season schedule on the road this weekend as it takes on Upper Iowa on Friday and Winona State on Saturday. Game times are set for 7:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
Minnesota State History: The 2018-19 season marks the 97th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,353-898 (.601) in 2,251 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 168-68 (.711) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.
The Mavericks made their 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season. MSU owns an 18-14 record (.562) in NCAA Tournament play, including its 60-50 win over Northwest Missouri State, a 74-70 win over Southwest Minnesota State and a 90-83 loss to Northern State last season.
Against the Peacocks: Friday's meeting between the Mavericks and the Peacocks marks their 27th all-time meeting, with MSU leading the all-time series 21-5. Earlier this season, UIU defeated the Mavericks 80-74 at Taylor Center.
Junior
Cameron Kirksey posted a team best 21 points and seven rebounds, while junior
Juwan McCloud tallied 17 points and three rebounds. Both senior
Carlos Anderson and freshman
Quincy Anderson netted 11 points as well.
As a team, Minnesota State shot 40.8% from the field against Upper Iowa. The Mavericks also held a 45-37 advantage in rebounds. The MSU bench also tallied 21 points.

Matt Margenthaler owns a 21-5 record against Upper Iowa, including a 10-1 road record.
Against the Warriors: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and Winona State marks their 137th all-time meeting, with MSU leading the series 88-48. Earlier this season, the Mavericks defeated the Warriors 78-62 at Taylor Center.
Juniors
Cameron Kirksey and
Juwan McCloud each tallied a team-leading 23 points against the Warriors, while freshman
Tre Baumgardner posted nine points, eight rebounds and five assists.
As a team, MSU shot 50.9% from the field against the Warriors, including a 10-of-23 (.435) performance from long range. The Mavericks also held a 41-28 advantage in rebounds.

Matt Margenthaler owns a 16-19 record against the Warriors, including a 6-9 record on the road.
Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State owns a 17-9 record on the season, including a 13-7 NSIC record, after going 1-1 at home in its most recent outings. Last weekend, MSU fell to Augustana 97-90 in double overtime, before defeating Wayne State 89-78.
MSU is averaging 82.9 points and 38.9 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 45.7% from the field. The Mavericks have also passed out 359 assists and have forced 269 turnovers.
Four Mavericks are averaging double figures in points this season, including junior
Cameron Kirksey who is averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game, to go along with 5.8 rebounds a game. Junior

Carlos Anderson following right behind with 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds a game. Junior

Matt Margenthaler, who is in his 18th season at Minnesota State. He owns a career record of 392-162 (.707).
Concerning the Peacocks: Upper Iowa enters the weekend the owner of a 6-20 record, including a 3-17 NSIC record. UIU has lost its last 14 games, including a pair of losses to Southwest Minnesota State (90-65) and Sioux Falls (80-60) on the road last weekend.
Upper Iowa is averaging 76.8 points and 30.0 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 45.2% from the field. The Peacocks are shooting 39.8% from three point range, but have also committed 297 turnovers.
Jareese Williams leads the UIU offense with 14.1 points per game this season, while Joe Smoldt has tallied 13.4 points and 3.6 assists a game. Munachiso Okonkwo is averaging 11.2 points and a team-best 5.4 rebounds a game as well.
Upper Iowa is coached by Brooks McKowen, who is in his fifth season with the Peacocks. He owns a 94-80 record.
Concerning the Warriors: Winona State enters the weekend the owner of an 11-15 record, including an 8-12 NSIC record. Last weekend, WSU fell to both Sioux Falls (84-80 2OT) and Southwest Minnesota State (69-67) on the road.
Winona State is averaging 74.9 points and 32.6 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 44.1% from the field and 38.9% from three point range. The Warriors have also passed out 360 assists and have forced 294 turnovers.
Kevion Taylor leads the WSU offense with 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season. Caleb Wagner is averaging 12.5 points and 3.3 assists per game as well.
Winona State is coached by Todd Eisner, who is in his fourth season as head coach at WSU. He owns a 57-54 record with the Warriors.
