Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team drops a 1-0 goaltending battle to Bemidji State on Friday afternoon at Mankato Civic Center.

The Mavericks' record dropped to 6-7-2 (2-7-2-2 WCHA) after the loss as junior netminder Lauren Bench collected the shutout for the Beavers.
 
Minnesota State had multiple odd-man rush opportunities in the first period, but was not able to convert and outshot Bemidji State 14-11 after 20 minutes of play.

The lone goal of the game scored by the Beavers came 50 seconds into the second period. Junior forward Clair DeGeorge passed it to junior winger Lydia Passolt in the slot as the puck sailed over sophomore netminder Abigail Levy's blocker for the goal.
 
Bemidji State possessed the puck for most of the third period not giving the Mavericks many chances to even the score. After Levy was pulled for an extra skater with 1:30 remaining in the game, MSU put four of their five shots on net in the period and were unable to find the equalizer.

Sophomore Abigail Levy (3-4-1) made 27 saves in the loss with allowing just the one goal. Levy made 11 saves in the first period, six in the second and 10 in the final frame.
 
The Mavericks outshot the Beavers 30-28 in the game. Minnesota State did not have a power play opportunity and killed the lone penalty called against them.
 
Junior Brittyn Fleming, sophomore Brooke Bryant and freshman Kennedy Bobyck all finished with four shots on net to lead the team. Sophomore Anna Wilgren collected five of the 11 total blocked shots for the Mavericks to bring her season total to 48.
 
The Mavericks and Beavers will close out the series tomorrow at 2:07 p.m., at Mankato Civic Center.
