Duluth, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team played No. 9 Minnesota Duluth close all game, but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime Friday afternoon at Amsoil Arena.
The loss drops the Mavericks record to 2-3-0 (0-3-0 WCHA) and the win improves the Bulldogs record to 2-1-0 (1-0-0 WCHA).

Abigail Levy made 16 saves in the first period to help the Mavericks take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Mavericks nearly held the 1-0 lead through two periods of play, but the Bulldogs scored with 48 seconds remaining to tie the game up. Senior forward
Sydney Brodt scored her third goal of the season past Levy, with the help from junior forward
Ashton Bell and sophomore forward
Gabbie Hughes.
Both teams scored in the third period to take a 2-2 tie into overtime. Minnesota State took back the lead at the 7:31 mark in the period when senior winger
Emily Antony picked up a loose puck off a rebound and put in the back of the net. Antony's first goal of the season was assisted by Akervik and freshman forward
Kelsey King. Minnesota Duluth tied the game back up at the 11:44 mark with Hughes picking up her third goal of the season.
The overtime period only lasted 26 seconds before the Bulldogs scored the game-winning goal. Brodt scored her second goal of the game and fourth of the season to help UMD gain the win over the Mavericks.
Levy (1-2-0) made a career-high 43 saves in the loss with 16 coming in the first period, 13 in the second period and 14 coming in the third/overtime periods, while allowing three goals. Rooney (2-1-0) finished with 14 saves and allowed two goals in the win.
Minnesota State, who was outshot by Minnesota Duluth 46-16, went zero-for-three on the power-play, while the Bulldogs also did not convert on five chances with the man advantage.
The Mavericks will look to gain their first conference win against the Bulldogs tomorrow afternoon at Amsoil Arena, beginning at 3:07 p.m.
