Mavericks Win 11 Events in Double Dual vs. Gusties, Pointers

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team won a pair of duals Saturday afternoon as it defeated Gustavus Adolphus and UW-Stevens Point.

The Mavericks posted the top finish in 11 of the 16 women's events as they tallied 1,202.5 points. Gustavus Adolphus tallied 954 points, while UW-Stevens Point notched 527.5. MSU now owns a 4-1 record in dual action this season. 

Both junior Maggie Knier and sophomore Lily Borgenheimer won a pair of individual events. Knier finished first in the 50 freestyle (24.10) and the 100 freestyle (53.35), while Borgenheimer won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.26) and the 400 IM (4:41.98).

Freshman Anja Enervold took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.30, with freshman Kayla Rinderknecht following right behind in second with a time of 1:00.56. Rinderknecht took first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.01 as well.

Sophomore Michal Thiesen won the 200 butterfly event with a time of 2:17.91, while freshman Brooke Miles took first place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.10.

MSU also won both relay events during the double dual. The quartet of junior Jace Hanson, freshman Emily Goodman, Enervold and Knier won the 200 medley relay event with a time of 1:51.68, while the team of sophomore Emelia Selky, sophomore Tori Roth, freshman Amanda Jordan and Knier won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.30.

Senior Hannah Gosen won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 219.85, while senior Hannah Guy finished second with a score of 213.20.

Minnesota State returns to action on Friday as it takes part in the two-day Joann Andregg Invite hosted by St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
