Biography

2019-20: Was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished third at the NSIC Championships (1:36.00)…Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team/Team of Excellence…Took fourth place in the 100 freestyle at the NSIC Championships with a time of 51.95 and 11th place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.22…Received the NSIC Elite 18 Award for the third consecutive season…Was a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams that took first place at the UW-Stevens Point Invite with times of 1:40.85 and 4:07.49, respectively...Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team.

2018-19: Claimed three All-NSIC honors in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and the 100 freestyle at the NSIC Championships…Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team/Team of Excellence…Competed in both the 50 freestyle (41st/23.88) and the 100 freestyle (46th/52.07) at the NCAA Championships…Received the NSIC Elite 18 Award for the second straight season…Took fifth place in the 50 freestyle at the NSIC Championships with a time of 23.28…Posted a personal best time of 51.26 in the 100 freestyle at the NSIC Championships…Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team.

2017-18: Named to the NSIC All-Academic honors team as well as receiving the NSIC Elite 18 Award...Took 8th in the 50 freestyle going a 23.91 at NSIC Championships...Was a member of the 200 medley relay that placed 2nd with All-NSIC honors...Was a member of the 200 freestyle relay that placed 3rd with All-NSIC honors...Took 13th in the 200 freestyle going a 1:56.41 at NSIC Championships...Placed 5th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.91...Was a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay earning All-NSIC honors...Competed as a member of the 400 freestyle competing relay team at the NCAA Championships.

2016-17: Was a member of the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.69) and 800 freestyle relay (7:40.77) teams that set school records…Finished in 13th place at the NSIC Championships in the 200 freestyle (1:57.62)…Finished in eighth place in the 100 freestyle (52.98) at the NSIC Championships…Named a CSCAA Scholar All-American…Received All-American honors as a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished in third place at the NCAA Championships.

High School: A native of Big Lake, Minn., Knier earned five letters for the Big Lake High School swimming and diving team...She earned a top-eight finish in sections in four seasons, including  her senior season where she claimed Section 5A championships in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay events...Was also a four-time state qualifier, and competed in four events during her senior season, which included a trio of sixth-place finishes...Along with her trips to state, Knier has also claimed four all-conference and five academic all-conference honors, to go with a Section 5A Swimmer of the Year award...She finished her career at Big Lake as the school's record holder in the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events...She was also a member of the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that hold the Section 5A records.

Personal: Maggie is the daughter of Paul and Julie Knier...Born May 23, 1997...Majoring in marketing and graphic design.
