MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State took care of business in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament with a 4-0 shutout over Concordia-St. Paul, Wednesday afternoon at The Pitch.
The Mavericks possessed the ball for most of the match against the Golden Bears, which helped lead to scoring four goals in the route. Senior
Morgan Cottew scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute as senior
Abby Hausken booted a pass from the Mavericks' back line into the opposite box. The Golden Bears' goalkeeper came off her line, but Cottew beat her to the ball, poking it into the net. This was Cottew's 10th goal of the season. The first half ended with MSU leading 1-0 and the defense held CSP to only two total shots in the half.
The second half was all Mavericks, once again, as they scored three more goals before it was all said and done. Cottew scored her second goal of the game, and 11th of the season, in the 56th minute of the game. Cottew drove down the center of the pitch, past a couple defenders before beating the goalkeeper to the low, right hand corner with sophomore
Molly Riley picking up the assist. Freshman
Jenny Vetter scored her first postseason goal of her career, and third goal of the season, in the 63rd minute to extend the score to 3-0. Cottew garnered the assist as she crossed the ball on the end line and Vetter put it into the back of the net. The last goal of the game came with less than ten seconds to play as junior

Cassidy Joyce for her first postseason goal and second goal of the season to push the final score to 4-0.
Overall, the Mavericks outshot the Golden Bears 17-7 (11-3 on goal) and help a corner kick advantage of 4-0.
Junior
Alexa Rabune collected up her 10th shutout of the season and made all three save opportunities. Her counterpart, Emily Nelson, made seven saves on ten opportunities.
Minnesota State advances to the semifinals, which the Mavericks will now host being the highest remaining seed left in the tournament. The semifinals for the NSIC Tournament will be on Friday as the Mavericks take on Augustana in the next round. The matches will be at 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m., with the order to be determined.
