CROOKSTON, Minn. --- No. 22 Minnesota State (11-1-1, 9-0-1 NSIC) dominates Minnesota Crookston (1-10-2, 1-7-2 NSIC) by a score of 8-0 on Friday afternoon at the UMC Soccer Field.

The Mavericks got off to a quick start in the first half when junior
Alesha Duccini netted her third goal of the year from inside the box in the 10th minute. MSU went up 1-0 and the assist went to senior
Abby Hausken. The scoring continued for the Mavericks when senior
Morgan Cottew put in her fifth goal of the year to extend the MSU lead to 2-0. The goal came in the 16th minute and she was assisted by junior
Dakota Wendell when she passed the ball from midfield into the box. Then, Wendell got into the action herself and headed in the third goal of the day from a cross for the Mavericks in the 23rd minute. This was Wendell's eighth goal of the year which leads the team and was assisted by junior
Bri Ciaccio. The Mavericks dominated this first half in scoring chances and possession of the ball in the scoring third by outshooting the Golden Eagles 15-3.

The dominance continued in the second half when Wendell scored her second goal of the match and still team leading ninth of the year four minutes into the half off of a turnover by the Golden Eagles. Cottew also continued her big day by scoring her second goal of the match and sixth of the season in the 55th minute, making to score 5-0. Cottew was assisted by junior
Morgan Seemuth. Freshman
Caitlin Brown got a goal for herself which was the first of her Maverick career in the 62nd minute off of a corner kick. This pushed the score to 6-0 and the assist was garnered by freshman
Brynn Desens. This goal caused the Golden Eagles to make a change at goalkeeper replacing Athena DiMario Done with Oliviia Puttin. Thirty seconds later and still in the 62nd minute, freshman
Jenny Vetter netted her second goal in as many games from 15 yards out with freshman
Nadia Lowery assisting to make the score 7-0. Another freshman,
Brooke Valiukas, got in on the action with her first goal as a Maverick in the 81st minute from about 20 yards out on the right side to extend the lead to 8-0.

Overall, the Mavericks outshot the Golden Eagles 33-7 (16-3 on goal) while not allowing a goal. MSU also held a substantial lead in corner kicks over UMC by 11-1. This is the second time in four games that Minnesota State scored at least eight goals.

Alexa Rabune picked up her sixth shutout on the year by making three saves on three opportunities.

No. 22 Minnesota State travels to Bemidji, Minn., to take on No. 5 Bemidji State in a top 25 battle. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday.
