Auburndale, Fla., --- Sophomore outfielder Jordan Hart went four-for-four with a homer, four runs scored and three runs batted in powering Minnesota State to a 14-0 win over Ashland today in Auburndale, Fla.
Led by Hart, along with three hits and five RBI and a homer from junior catcher Noah Bluth, the Mavericks scored seven runs in the first two innings and added three more in the fifth and four in the sixth in upping their record to 3-2 for the year. Shortstop Luke Waldek had two hits and shortstop Tommy McDonald belted a three-run pinch hit home run.
Sophomore righthanded pitcher Jon Ludwig, who went the distance in picking up the win (he's 1-0 for the year), limited the Eagles to four hits while striking out eight batters in the seven-inning shut-out.
Minnesota State continues action in the Sunshine State tomorrow with a nonconference game versus Lewis (Ill.) scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start in Auburndale.
