MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team hosted the Ted Nelson Classic at Myers Field House Saturday.
The day began with the 60-meter dash led by
Karlona Gregory (7.71),
Gabi Gaines (7.75), and
Afure Adah (7.76) who claimed the top three finishes as well as
Autumn Santos (7.85) who finished sixth. The 60-meter hurdles saw
Kellie Wong take seventh place with a time of 9.40. In the 200-meter dash
Adah (25.00),
Gregory (25.44),
Gaines (25.66) and
Santos (25.78) took the top four places and
Sydney Reysack (26.37) finished eighth. In the 400-meter dash
Amelia Kjos finished third with a time of 59.08 while
Taylor Naatz (1:00.24) and
Sophia Simonson (1:00.49) finished fifth and sixth.
The 600-meter run saw
Bobbi Patrick finish second with a time of 1:38.01 and
Jessica Boespflug finish third with a time of 1:40.59.
Maddi Sjelin earned second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.49. In the 1 mile run
Lily Paul finished in seventh place with a time of 5:25.01. Paul also finished seventh in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:40.29. In the 4x400-meter relay the Mavericks team of Wreh, Williams, Gaines, and Glover finished second with a time of 3:54.93.
In the long jump
Brieanna Puckett (18'5") and
Ariel Thomas (17'11") finished in second and third place.
Emma Edelen (48'11.75") and
Sarah Knutson (48'11.5") finished in second and third place in the weight throw. Thomas placed second in the triple jump with a best leap of 37'3". In the high jump
Khadiya Hollingsworth once again took first place with a final height of 5'9.25".
Rachel Schumacher (5'5") finished second,
Brianna Ziolkowski (5'5") finished fifth, and
Carolyn Hackel (5'3") finished sixth as well in the high jump. The final event of the day was the shot put which saw
Sarah Knutson finish fifth with a distance of 39'1",
Dallas Weiss (37'8") finished sixth, and
Kaitlyn Smith (35'10") finished eighth.
Minnesota State will be home next Sunday and Monday for the NSIC Multi, which will be hosted at Myers Field House.
