WINONA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis fell to the Upper Iowa Peacocks 7-2 Saturday afternoon in Winona, Minn.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 1-4 on the season, including a 1-3 NSIC record. With the win, the Peacocks improve to 3-0 on the season, including a 3-0 conference record.

Monika Ryan hung with Anna Okolot and Breanna Heichert in the No. 3 doubles match, but they fell to the Peacocks 8-6.
In singles competition, the Mavericks managed to win a pair of matches as the Peacocks ended the dual with a 7-2 win. Schmidt defeated Heichert in straight sets (6-0, 6-2) in the No. 6 singles match, while junior
Killian Doran won the No. 4 singles match vs. Kelly Jachymowski by the scores of 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-1). Senior
Melissa Mashburn forced a deciding third set against Linn Sorman but Sorman was able to come away with the 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) win.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 as they travel to Bismarck, N.D., to take on the University of Mary. The dual is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
