Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State women's track and field hosted the first event of the NSIC Indoor Championship Sunday night at Meyers Fieldhouse. The pentathlon, consisting of 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800-meter run, was the first official event for the contest which will be concluded Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.
Carolyn Hackel, a sophomore from Austin Minnesota, was the top finisher for Minnesota State, ultimately placing fifth in the competition with a total score of 3449. Placing fifth earns the Mavericks four team points which will be factored into the final score of the competition. Also competing for Minnesota State were sophomore
Sola Stephenson of Clear lake Iowa and sophomore
Jessika Dieringer of Fredonia Wisconsin, who finished eleventh and twelfth respectively.
The Minnesota State women's track and field team will be attending the Parents Day Open in Minneapolis, Minn. Saturday, February 18th before returning to Mankato for the remainder of the NSIC Indoor Championship.
